The Sailmaker’s House caters to the modern and self-sufficient traveler. We encourage you let yourself in and make yourself at home. Instead of keys, we use key codes therefore each reservation is assigned a unique 4-digit code to the front door and guestroom. We strive to provide you with all the information and amenities you will need to enjoy your stay with us and a friendly member of our team will be available by phone or text at all hours.

All guests have access to high-speed wireless internet, snacks, coffee, tea and water in our common area mini bar. We also have a selection of magazines and newspapers, and our lush 3-season garden area is open to all guests and features areas to lounge in the shade of our cherry and peach trees.

There is no food service offered at The Sailmaker's House. We encourage our guests to take advantage of the many exceptional culinary options Portsmouth has to offer. We do provide light snack options that are available 24/7 at the coffee station in the common area.
Upon booking your reservation you will receive a key code to access the front door to the house and your private room for the duration of your stay. All rooms are clearly labeled for your convenience. Please plan to check-in no earlier than 4:00pm and check-out no later than 11:00am. Access codes to the doors will not work before 4:00pm on check-in day and will expire at 11:00am on the day you are set to check-out. Please contact the innkeeper with special requests.
We require that all guests be at least 21 years of age to book a reservation at The Sailmaker’s House. The Sailmaker’s House may not be suitable for children under 12 years of age, as there are many small, fragile items scattered about. Please contact us if you have specific questions.
We do not provide cots for additional sleeping arrangements due to the size of our rooms and fire code regulations. Nine of the ten rooms at The Sailmaker's house have a maximum capacity of two people. Room 8 is the exception, this room boasts a private living room with a pull out couch, maximum capacity is four.
Smoking and vaping of any kind is strictly prohibited inside guest rooms and common areas both by The Sailmaker's House and the State of New Hampshire Law. Please abstain from lighting candles any smoke may trigger the fire alarm system.
Due to the age of our building, sound will travel. We hope that all guests are quiet and mindful that they are sharing the house with others.
We have parking for 2 cars side by side in our paved driveway and 7 spots in our on site lot, please be sure to park in the marked spaces on the right side of the gravel lot. Parking is first come first served for one car per room booked. For additional free parking within walking distance please check the Parrott Avenue Parking Lot.
We welcome dogs in Room #1 and Room #2. There is an additional fee of $30 per night, please select "Fido Fee" when booking your stay.
Please let us know as soon as possible before cancelling a booking with us. We will do all that we can to be accommodating to your changing plans. If you must cancel less than 14 days before the start of your stay, $25 per each day reserved will be deducted from your payment upon being returned. Reservations cancelled with more than 14 days notice will be refunded in full (this may not apply to full house buyouts where other terms were agreed upon).
All rooms are subject to a 9% New Hampshire State Rooms & Meals Tax which will be calculated and clearly noted during the booking process. Gratuities are not included.
