STYLISH COMFORT IN CHARMING PORTSMOUTH
If you’re like us, you travel in order to experience the richness and culture of your destination – you want a unique adventure that goes beyond your hotel. You love crisp sheets and the perfect pillow, and when you wake up, you’re looking to explore.
A blend of traditional and modern, The Sailmaker’s House is an independent, boutique inn located in the center of beautiful downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire. We are a convenient jumping off point for our guests to discover the city and enjoy all that the Seacoast has to offer.
& MODERN HOSPITALITY
The land on which The Sailmaker's House sits was purchased from Thomas Pierce in 1822 by John Holbrook. As a sailmaker, John conducted business at his waterfront shop downtown, pictured above. The house stayed in the Holbrook family until it was sold in 1902 as a residence and later as an inn.
In 2017 local hospitality leaders Amanda and Jay McSharry purchased the inn and completely renovated it; capturing Portsmouth’s historic and maritime influences, and updating it with today’s amenities and technology. Creating a stylish inn with beautifully decorated guestrooms with private baths.
